Neil Gorsuch Is Trump's Choice for SCOTUS

BREAKING:  Donald  Trump  Announces  Neil  Gorsuch  As  Choice  For  SCOTUS

President Donald J. Trump just kept a huge campaign promise.

American voters made it clear that one of the primary reasons they wanted to vote for Trump is because they believed he would choose a Supreme Court Justice that would help reverse the liberal leanings of the current court.

Trump pledged during the campaign to make a Supreme Court Court selection that was consistent with original Constitutionalist views and would reign in the current activism of the Supreme Court

Trump did not disappoint by nominating 10th Circuit Court of Appeals judge, Neil Gorsuch.

Gorsuch, a Harvard graduate where he was a Truman Scholary, also received the Marshall Scholarship from Oxford University where he obtained a Doctorate of Philosophy in Law.

A George W. Bush appointee, Gorsuch has been a popular judge among Christians for his work on the popular case, Burwell v. Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc. and in Sisters of the Poor Home for the Aged v. Burwell, where he wrote that “[Obamacare’s] mandate requires them to violate their religious faith by forcing them to lend an impermissible degree of assistance to conduct their religion teaches to be gravely wrong.”

Additionally, Judge Gorsuch has opined that federal agencies may not have the Constitutional authority to continue their broad interpretation powers. This is a good sign for conservatives looking for the court to reign in rogue federal agencies.

Gorsuch has been a strong proponent of the death penalty denying many requests of death-row inmates to stay their execution.

Interestingly, Gorsuch has not opined on an abortion case so he has not directly revealed his views on Roe v. Wade. However, his writing of books opposing euthanasia and supporting the value of human life could lead one to believe that he would support overturning the case.

He is a textualist and an originalist. However, he is suspected to have a relative lack of controversy in his confirmation, according to The National Review.

Gorsuch has great respect for, and remarkably similar judicial philosophies to, former Supreme Court Justice, Antonin Scalia. In fact, Gorsuch called Scalia a “Lion of the law.”

While there are some unknowns, this looks like a huge win for conservatives and a reason to applaud President Trump. He kept his word and we should give him credit for it.
